Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, assist in maintaining and providing for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record
- Must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by candidate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to pass alcohol and drug test
Experience:
- One-three years in plumbing field
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
General

Maintenance and Repair
- Install and do minor repair on faucets, fixtures, and drains.
- Receives and complete work orders as issued under supervision of a journeyman plumber.
- Retrieve parts and tools as needed.
- Assists licensed maintenance worker in all facets of commercial plumbing repair and remodeling.
- Assist in the repair or installation of irrigation systems.
Safety
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise general maintenance worker when assigned.
Equipment Used:
Hand and power tools; Pipe bender; Propane torch; Soldering equipment; Sewer rooter. Light truck or van.

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent districtwide travel.
