QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED certificate, college degree preferred
- Current State of Texas Master Electrician License or State of Texas Master Plumber License preferred
- Obtain a State of Texas Electrical Contractor’s License within 6 months of stating
- Five (5) years’ experience in electrical or plumbing commercial applications
- Minimum of three (3) years successful work experience in a management or leadership position
- Must possess a high degree of leadership and communication skills
- Current valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record
- Able to speak, read, and understand the English language

$78,206 (BA-5)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise electrical, plumbing, appliance and low voltage department personnel and perform associated work as needed.
- Develop and implement new employee orientation.
- Develop, implement and supervise the installation, maintenance and repair of all low voltage, electrical, plumbing and appliance equipment.
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical and plumbing plans, specifications and operational criteria.
- Develop, implement, supervise and monitor District’s Preventive Maintenance Program for all related systems and equipment.
- Maintain effective communications with building administrators to discuss schedules, problems, coordination for repairs and service and any other information to related responsibilities.
- Observe and enforce federal, state and local laws and codes as well as regulations governing the MEP industry.
- Insures all equipment is maintained in a safe working condition with all associated safeties operational.
- Coordinate and expedite the ordering of materials, tools and equipment.
- Schedule preventive and corrective maintenance work in an efficient and effective manner.
- Be responsible for meeting required deadlines, quality standards and employee moral.
- Develop and implement training programs for MEP department personnel in safety, MSDS awareness, preventive maintenance and equipment repair.
- Must be able to understand and apply all written and oral instruction and direction.
- Take necessary action to correct and immediately report any condition that could cause illness or injury.
- Supervise and inspect all work done by outside contractors.
- Make authoritative recommendations concerning the hiring, advancement, discipline and discharge of employees.
- Maintain departmental logs and records in an organized manner.
- Monitor time cards and work orders daily.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of MEP supplies to insure normal day –to-day operations.
- Work in coordination with other division/trades.
- Attend construction and coordination meetings on behalf of the department
- Review electrical/plumbing construction projects with architects and engineers to plan equipment replacements
- Review equipment submittals to verify specification compliance
- Perform field construction observation reports
- Observe changes in weather and environment and coordinate safety precautions to protect district assets
- Available to work different schedules or shifts to accomplish tasks.
- Be available for after hour demands. Subject to 24 hour call out responsibility.
- Prepare and arrange for the purchase of contracted services necessary for the operation and maintenance of schools.
- Assist in preparing Maintenance budget.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Frequent district-wide travel.
