Purpose Statement
The job of Plumber is done for the purpose/s of providing plumbing services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, and/or upgrading plumbing systems; ensuring compliance with accessibility, health and safety codes; ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; providing information on the proper uses of equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at job site.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in plumbing; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and adhering to safety practices. Successful completion of a trade school course. Two years of work experience will substitute for the trade school training. Four years or more of successful work experience in plumbing; with two year or more spent working in commercial or industrial installations.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods, techniques, materials, tools used in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair; and safety practices and procedures. Knowledge of oil, gas, and electrically fired high and lower pressure boiler systems. Knowledge of diagnosis and repair of plumbing fixtures and piping systems including domestic and waste systems, gas and tubing. Operating knowledge and experience with computers and peripherals. Knowledge of District policies and procedures, and departmental policies and safety practices.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; and working with frequent interruptions. Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with building staff, coworkers and contractors. Ability to lift 50 pounds to chest height and push/pull 60 pounds. Ability to work in variety of building areas including roofs, crawl spaces, chases and interstitial spaces. Ability to work in a variety of weather (indoors and outdoors).
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
Education: Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employee’s responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
