Licensed Plumber – Sewer, Drain & Environmental Services

Position Overview

All City Environmental is seeking an experienced licensed plumbing professional to support advanced plumbing, sewer, storm drain, and environmental service operations throughout the Chicagoland market.

This role is designed for a plumber who is fully licensed to perform independent plumbing work under either the State of Illinois plumbing license or qualifying City of Chicago plumbing licenses (non-apprentice). The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, hands-on field expertise, and the professionalism required to operate across commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential environments.

This position plays a critical role in permit-driven work, regulatory compliance, and the execution of complex plumbing, sewer, and drainage projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced plumbing, sewer, and drain diagnostics, repairs, and installations across commercial, industrial, municipal, and residential systems
  • Independently troubleshoot complex plumbing and sewer issues, including structural failures, blockages, corrosion, and code compliance concerns
  • Perform licensed plumbing work in compliance with Illinois Plumbing Code and applicable municipal regulations, including City of Chicago requirements where applicable
  • Coordinate permits and inspections when required
  • Operate and maintain professional sewer and environmental service equipment, including hydro-jetters, inspection cameras, drain machines, and vacuum/vactor systems
  • Service and repair sewer lines, storm drains, catch basins, grease traps, and related infrastructure
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Communicate effectively with customers, internal teams, and municipal inspectors
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians when applicable
  • Accurately document work performed, materials used, and job outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • One of the following (required):
  • Active State of Illinois Plumber’s License (IDPH-issued), OR
  • Active City of Chicago plumbing license qualifying the individual to perform independent plumbing work (Journeyman-level or equivalent; apprentice licenses not accepted)
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on plumbing and/or sewer experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform licensed plumbing work without supervision
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, sewer infrastructure, storm drainage, and applicable codes
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Physical ability to perform field work, including lifting, confined spaces, outdoor conditions, and emergency or after-hours response work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sewer cleaning, hydro-jetting, storm sewer, and catch basin work
  • Experience working with City of Chicago or municipal inspectors and permit processes
  • CDL or experience operating heavy service vehicles (vacuum / vactor trucks)
  • Commercial, industrial, or infrastructure-level plumbing experience
  • Experience mentoring or supporting technicians or apprentices

Compensation & Position Value

Hourly Pay: $45.00 – $60.00+ per hour, based on license type, experience, and technical capability

Higher compensation is available for candidates with:

  • Broad municipal or infrastructure plumbing experience
  • Demonstrated expertise with advanced sewer and drainage equipment
  • Proven ability to handle complex, permit-driven and compliance-sensitive work
  • Leadership experience supporting or training other technicians
