Non-Smoking
The City of Delray Beach is a Non-Tobacco Workplace. The City will not consider applicants who have used tobacco or nicotine products for a period of at least three months prior to application for employment. Provides skilled plumbing and mechanical work to repair and maintain plumbing systems in all City buildings and related appurtenances. Work is performed under general supervision.

Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

 

Performs skilled plumbing and mechanical work at city owned buildings, facilities, and other related areas. 

 

  1.  Perform preventive maintenance activities.
  2.  Maintain and repair pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems and fixtures.
  3.  Perform other maintenance activities not related to plumbing as directed.
  4.  Assist other mechanics or tradesmen as needed.
  5.  Provide support for numerous special events. 
  6.  Must be on call and work overtime as needed.

 

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

 

  • Knowledge of plumbing equipment, repairs, & replacement.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage controls.
  • Ability to read plans.
  • Electrical and mechanical skills required.
  • Ability to perform manual labor as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency Diploma.  
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the plumbing trade or related field 

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s license with a good driving record.

A comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
