Responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of the plumbing and piping systems currently utilized in the medical facility, to include all piping, pumps, valves, meters, fittings, insulation, and related accessories.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
·Assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob. Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools. Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine. Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand. Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools. Joins pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and calks joints. Fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners. Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
·Maintenance Technicians will have experience and knowledge in troubleshooting, repair, programming, and other corrective maintenance and minor modifications on all systems and equipment
·Working experience in TJC, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, & other related codes & standards and all employees must comply with all applicable ordinances, laws, or other requirements imposed by other state agencies, courts, or certain localities
QUALIFICATIONS:
·Plumber Journeyman with minimum of 3 years’ experience and shall be licensed/certified by the appropriate state for his/her specific trade. A copy of the state/federal licenses or certifications must be provided to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) on site.
·Prefer applicant has the following required certifications (or must be able to obtain) to perform maintenance on both Medical Gas Systems and Backflow Preventers:
Will perform work on medical gas systems and medical gas support systems and be qualified as defined by NFPA 99 and certified as defined in ASSE 6040
Will perform repair and testing on Backflow Prevention devices and be certified by State of California
·Plumber will be certified as Designated Operator for underground storage tanks
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
·Two year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
·Will be sufficiently educated, trained, and experienced with a minimum of (3) years in required disciplines to provide proficient O&M services and maintain the facilities IAW Valiant and Government standards
