The Plumber is responsible for installing, assembling, testing, and maintaining plumbing systems and components in manufactured units such as restroom or shower trailers, modular facilities, and specialty vehicles. This role ensures that all plumbing systems are installed to code, function properly, and meet company quality and performance standards. The Plumber works closely with electricians, carpenters, and final assembly teams to ensure smooth production flow and on-time delivery.
Essential Functions
- Read and interpret blueprints, plumbing schematics, and work orders to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Assemble, install, and connect water lines, drains, waste tanks, vent systems, pumps, and fixtures (toilets, sinks, showers, valves, etc.).
- Install and pressure-test water and waste systems to ensure there are no leaks or blockages.
- Utilize PEX, PVC, ABS, copper, and flexible plumbing materials as required.
- Route and secure all plumbing runs in accordance with unit design and safety standards.
- Perform pressure tests and water-flow checks to ensure system integrity.
- Diagnose and repair leaks, flow issues, and component malfunctions.
- Ensure all installations meet internal quality standards and relevant plumbing codes.
- Record and report any nonconforming parts or assemblies to the supervisor or QC department.
- Coordinate with assembly, electrical, and carpentry teams to maintain smooth unit progression through production zones.
- Follow company safety procedures, including PPE, lockout/tagout, and confined-space requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with 5S and OSHA standards.
- Properly maintain plumbing tools, equipment, and testing instruments.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of plumbing experience in manufacturing, modular construction, RV/trailer, or commercial plumbing.
- Prior experience in restroom/shower trailer or RV manufacturing preferred.
- Proficient in reading plumbing blueprints, schematics, and layout drawings.
- Experience with various piping materials (PVC, PEX, copper, ABS, flexible line).
- Understanding of 12V water pumps, pressure regulators, and holding tank systems.
- Ability to perform pressure and flow testing safely and accurately.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.
- Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and performing physical work in varied positions.
