Business Title:
- Plumbing Inspector & Plans Examiner

Job Purpose:
- To perform highly skilled technical work in the inspection of plumbing installations and examination of plumbing plans for compliance with applicable codes and regulations. This role ensures public safety and welfare related to plumbing systems within the City of Sweetwater.

Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect new and existing plumbing systems, including private and commercial properties, to ensure compliance with City plumbing codes, state regulations, and national standards.
- Examine plumbing plans and specifications submitted for permits to ensure adherence to applicable codes and regulations.
- Issue correction notices for violations and follow up to ensure timely corrections are made.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, plan reviews, and violations.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to contractors, builders, and the public regarding plumbing codes and regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to plumbing installations and take appropriate action.
- Prepare reports and maintain documentation related to inspections and plan reviews.
- Stay current with changes and updates to plumbing codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with other City departments and agencies as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Plumbing Inspector License.
- Valid Plans Examiner License.

Required Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience as a plumbing inspector.
- Minimum of three years of experience examining plumbing plans.
- Experience working with relevant plumbing codes and regulations.
- Experience in residential and commercial plumbing systems.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances.
- Ability to interpret and apply plumbing codes and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in conducting field inspections and preparing detailed reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficient in using computer software and applications related to inspections and plan review.
