ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.


  • Performs complex duties in the repair, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices in state buildings.
  • Recommends energy-saving changes.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and irrigation systems.
  • Oversees the operation of steam boiler plants.
  • Works with engineers/contractors on new system design, troubleshooting, testing, and startup of new systems.
  • Works carefully to follow all current Plumbing Codes/regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES: 


Preference will be given to those with a Journeyman Plumber license plus licensed backflow prevention testing and fire sprinkler system experience 


KNOWLEDGE:  



  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repairs
  • Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes.
  • Knowledge of multiple source heating & hydronic systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of acceptable practices, methods, and tools used inthe installation, monitoring, and repair of plumbing equipment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Education:
Bachelor's Degree
 
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber
 
OR
 
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Plumbing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Plumber
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None

Necessary Special Requirements


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in tight, confined spaces
  • Ability to work comfortably at a variety of heights
  • Ability to walk great distances throughout the facility
