Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Repairs and install plumbing fixtures and systems -- potable water, natural gas, sewage and pumps. Ensures that all projects or jobs are safely accomplished as scheduled to meet established standards of performance, quality and code/regulations.
  • Maintains specialized systems -- stills, back flow prevention devices, water treatment and fire protection
    systems. Ensures that all systems are maintained to meet established standards of performance, quality and code/regulations. Reads plans and interprets project specifications.
  • Maintains records of materials and labor expended for each project or job assignment. Estimates and assesses job or project materials requirements and prepares requisition for materials from supply  warehouse or vendor. All required materials will be obtained prior to starting work on each scheduled job.
  •  Provides after hours overtime work as required. May participate in emergency call-back roster on a rotating basis. Available for required overtime work on an as needed basis.
  • Advises Foreman on job or project status and operational problems.
  • Trains personnel in the apprenticeship training program and temporary laborers on job-related maintenance tasks.
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Four years experience in designated trade or one year as a licensed journeyperson.
