Required Experience

A minimum of five years of verifiable, professional leak detection-specific experience is required.

We're looking for someone who has performed leak detection as a substantial, regular part of their professional work, not someone whose primary experience is plumbing or pool maintenance with occasional leak locating.

Our ideal candidate has experience in all three of the following specialties:

1. Pressurized Plumbing Leak Detection

  • Domestic water supply systems
  • Underground and concealed piping
  • Slab leaks
  • Residential and commercial pressurized plumbing systems
  • Acoustic, pressure, and tracer-gas testing

2. Pool & Spa Leak Detection

  • Pool and spa plumbing systems
  • Structural leaks, fittings, skimmers, lights, and penetrations
  • Equipment and circulation systems
  • Pressure and dye testing
  • Underwater inspections

3. Insurance-Related Inspections

  • Cause-and-origin investigations
  • Duration-of-loss considerations
  • Plumbing failures and concealed water damage
  • Moisture mapping and thermal imaging
  • Thorough documentation of findings for insurance-related purposes

Important: Although experience across all three specialties is preferred, we will consider candidates with five or more years of professional leak detection experience who demonstrate strong proficiency in one or two of these areas.

We provide training in additional specialties for qualified technicians.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Independently perform residential, commercial, and specialty leak detection inspections.
  • Use appropriate testing methods and diagnostic equipment to accurately locate leaks.
  • Troubleshoot complex plumbing, pool, and water intrusion problems.
  • Evaluate and document inspection findings, including situations where testing is inconclusive or additional investigation is necessary.
  • Perform pool and spa inspections, including underwater testing.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate inspection reports with supporting photographs, testing results, and clear explanations.
  • Develop appropriate repair recommendations and estimate requests based on actual diagnostic findings.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, property managers, and other parties involved in inspections.
  • Identify and communicate conditions that require additional testing or supervisory review.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Coordinate with our office, inspection supervisors, and repair teams to ensure clear communication and follow-through.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • At least five years of verifiable, professional leak detection-specific experience.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems, pipe configurations, and leak detection principles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with professional leak detection equipment and testing methods.
  • Ability to independently evaluate complex situations and select appropriate diagnostic approaches.
  • Sound technical judgment and a systematic approach to troubleshooting.
  • Excellent documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical findings to clients who may have little or no plumbing knowledge.
  • Professional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently while maintaining diagnostic accuracy.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle.

Scuba Diving Requirement

Underwater pool and spa inspections are an expected part of this position.

Applicants must be willing and able to perform required scuba diving duties and complete applicable training and safety qualifications.

Already certified? Great. Not yet certified? We provide professional scuba training for qualified technicians.

Working Conditions

Our technicians work at residential, commercial, and industrial properties throughout our service area.

The work may include:

  • Indoor and outdoor inspections in hot, cold, or wet conditions
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and working overhead
  • Working in confined or restricted spaces
  • Walking and working on uneven terrain
  • Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Entering pools and spas to perform underwater inspections

Schedule

  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Primarily Monday through Friday
  • 40+ hours per week
  • Regular overtime opportunities
  • Occasional weekend work as needed

Our range of services provides consistent work throughout the year, rather than depending exclusively on seasonal pool activity.

Why Bullseye?

We're not a commission-driven sales organization. Our reputation depends on accurate diagnostics, professional integrity, and clients who can trust our findings.

We value technicians who are thorough, intellectually curious, willing to continue learning, and committed to doing quality work, even when the answer isn't obvious.

You'll work alongside other experienced professionals and have opportunities to broaden your technical capabilities.
